Technique and Design of Cluny Lace by L. Paulis & M. Rutgers

Cluny is a simple, geometric, plaited lace. It has much in common with Bedfordshire lace and does not require a net background. This book explains how lace in general, and Cluny in particular, is built up - starting with the simplest elements and progressing to more complicated forms. The original French text has been translated, expanded and adapted for English speaking lacemakers. There are many illustrations and working diagrams besides the twelve original examples of Cluny lace. The corners, which do not need additional pairs, are shown enlarged so that their construction can be easily followed. For anyone with a basic knowledge of lacemaking this book offers an opportunity to explore an unusual type of lace and inspiration for creating original work.
