Starting Embroidery by Jenny Bullen

Many of today's new embroiderers are introduced to the craft by other people's ideas, in the form of kits and charts. This book encourages those who wish to begin designing and working their own pieces. Each chapter is a lesson in itself and includes instructions on both design methods and techniques. Stitches, shadow work, quilting, applique, counted thread and canvas work are all covered, as are color theory and equipment. The text is supported by a wealth of sketches, clear photographs and examples of finished pieces by a number of well-known embroiderers.
