Shared Threads: Quilting Together ~ Past and Present by Jacqueline Marx Atkins
This book pulls together many of the myriad bits of information on group quilting that have appeared in a variety of articles and books over the years. It emphasizes the important social role that communal quilting has played in American society and looks at what its role is today. It reviews the history of and reasons for women working together to produce both utilitarian and masterpiece quilts from the pioneer days of our country to the present-day enthusiasm. Included are examples of antique and contemporary group-made quilts as well as old and new illustrations, paintings and photographs of women quilting together .
