The Needle-Made Lace of Reticella by Jules & Kaethe Kliot
With the abridged republication of early works, this publication details the techniques of Reticella as well as offering some insight into the rich heritage of this technique. The major resource for this publication is Needle-Made Laces, 1st Series by Th. De Dillmont, which details the technique of Reticella designs in the context of being free of any base fabric. It also illustrates some of the shortcuts introduced in the latter part of the 19th c. where machine made laces were used to imitate some of the needle made stitches. An appendix follows offering instructions for true Reticella that formed from a base fabric. Examples of Reticella as originally made are offered for design ideas and to support the potential of this technique.
