La Collection De Point De Croix de Regine Deforges by Regine Deforges & Isabelle Faidy
I fell in love with this book the moment I opened it! True to form for French books, this books is overloaded with beautiful patterns. Based on the collection of Regine Deforges, this book has it all! The first chapter is alphabets and contains reproduction photos of some of the most famous "booklets" published by the publishing houses including Sajou, Rouyer, Cartier-Bresson, Weiss, Alexandre and Dillmont-DMC. I counted 119 complete alphabets, 12 sets of numerals and 150+ borders in chapter 1 alone! This is followed by a chapter of 6 patterns for Berlin woolwork scuffs. Chapter 3 is full of "people" patterns and contains a Berlin woolwork pattern for a man, a pattern for Russian dancers, a woman carrying water and many more! Chapter 4 is devoted to children's patterns and contains patterns of children doing all sorts of activities as well as patterns suitable for children such as people from other countries. Chapter 5 is dedicated to motifs of the world and contains graphs of building from all over the world including Russia, Algeria, China, Spain, Persia and Italy. Also included in this chapter are 7 border-style Hungarian motifs. Chapter 6 contains an oriental-style pattern followed by 4 large "redwork" patterns that are absolutely gorgeous. Chapter 7 is dedicated to floral motifs and contains a page of "corners" suitable for Berlin woolwork, 9 large Berlin woolwork patterns and 24 small floral charts. The final chapter is dedicated to border patterns and contains 47 different patterns. A wonderful addition for any library!
