In Beauty It Is Finished: The McDermott Collection of Navajo Blankets at Dallas Public Library edited by Pam Lange
The McDermott Collection of Navajo Blankets at Dallas Public Library is one of the largest collections of Navajo wearing blankets on display in the world. The collection captures the integration of spirit, landscape and weaver inherent in the best of Indian textile art. The energy and expertise evident in these blankets speak to a perfect union between work and worker, art and artist, that is often lacking in these days of leisure time and assembly lines. The Navajo women who wove these blankets were at one with their environment and their work and they created objects of great power and beauty. We can learn much from studying these lessons from the past.
