Creating A Reticella Rosette by Marie Schorn & Arrienne Ashford

Reticella is a form of needle lace where geometric patterns are embroidered over a fabric with most of the threads removed. This publication guides you through the process providing instructions for creating the foundation for a reticella rosette and embroidering some of the patterns. Many of the instructions included can also be used for punto in aria since similar patterns were used to create that type of lace. Beginning with an introduction that discusses both Reticella and patterns books, this book leads you through the creation of a reticella foundation. This is followed by embroidering patterns including circles, squares, fleur de lis, triangles, hearts and picots. A drawn thread border is expertly explained followed by 3 lace patterns and a discussion of structural integrity. An appendix includes more lace pattern samples.
