This book by Jane D. Zimmerman provides an interesting look at the art of Assisi embroidery. A brief history and discussion of materials is followed by a through explanation of the stitches involved in this type of embroidery including back stitch, Holbein stitch, cross stitch, long-arm cross stitch and two-sided Italian cross stitch. Methods of working and general working hints are also provided. The remainder of the book is a fascinating combination of patterns including "picture" designs, border designs, miscellaneous designs and Holbein stitch borders.
