Assisi Embroidery: Technique and 42 Charted Designs by Pamela Miller Ness

Assisi embroidery is a counted thread embroidery technique in which the designs are only outlined in silhouette and the background is worked decoratively. It is a simple and versatile form of needlework that is today enjoying a revival. Probably the only inexpensive modern book on Assisi embroidery, this volume contains 42 designs and clear, complete instructions on how to work the embroidery. Both traditional and contemporary patterns are included. The book includes full instructions with eight charts showing the necessary stitches. Also included is an informative historical survey of Assisi work.
